         The Fifth Salford Film Festival

               November 15th – 23rd 2008

Yes, we’ve been doing this for five years now: celebrating the city's cinematic history and thriving contemporary talent in a festival for the people of Salford, by the people of Salford, starring the people of Salford. But don’t ever call us parochial. The focus may be local, but the view is widescreen. There’s something for everyone to enjoy, from local community films and cutting-edge new shorts, to international premieres and difficult to see cult classics.

Oh, and it’s virtually all FREE!

CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS:

SPECIAL CALL FOR SUPER 8

Salford Film Festival’s Call for Submissions is over for this year. Mostly.

HOWEVER, if you are working on Super 8, we’d be interested to hear from you. Here at SFF, we’re really excited by the revival of interest in this classic medium – so much so that we’ve teamed up with the good folks at onsuper8.org to bring a special day of Super 8 related activities to this year's festival.

Saturday 22nd November will be a chance to explore "Super 8 in a Digital World". An afternoon Super 8 workshop will be followed by an evening screening of some of the best Super 8 films around. We'll be firming up on details on the workshop and screening over the coming weeks, but if you’d like to be a part of the screening, we'd love to hear from you. We're making a very special call for submissions for the evening screening - inviting filmmakers the world over working on Super 8mm film to send us their work, to be considered for a showcase of the very best of what's currently being created on the format.

Submissions should be sent on DVD to:

Steve Balshaw, Festival Programme Manager, Salford Film Festival, International Media Centre, Adelphi House, The Crescent, Salford M3 6EN

Submission forms may be downloaded HERE. There is no submission fee.
